Philmont 2011
This is the official
information and tracking site of Troop 4077’s 2011 Philmont
Expedition. Here you will be able to find information regarding our
trek preparation, planning, and coordinating information for our crew
members leading to the event. We also plan to use this site to share
our experiences with all who are interested..
Philmont Scout Ranch is a large, rugged, mountainous ranch located near the town of Cimarron, New Mexico
covering approximately 137,500 acres of wilderness in the Sangre de
Cristo Mountains of the Rocky Mountains of northern New Mexico. The
ranch, formerly the property of oil baron Waite Phillips and now that
of the Boy Scouts of America, is currently in use as a National High
Adventure Base in which crews of Scouts take part in backpacking
expeditions and other outdoor activities. It is the largest youth camp
in the world by size and number of participants.
Our crew will depart for Philmont on July 28th, 2011. The
crew consists of two adults and ten youth. Our eleven day trek
will take us across a minimum of 64 miles of the southern half of the
Philmont Scout Ranch.
